FEATURES TONY AWARD-WINNING ACTOR/DIRECTOR AND MULTI-TALENTED STAR JASON ALEXANDER For Immediate Release . . .March 23, 2015 . . . Palm Desert, California . . . Tony Award-Winning Actor/Director and multi-talented star of the hit television show “Seinfeld”, JASON ALEXANDER, will join The Desert Symphony for an evening of music and laughs as he reminisces about his remarkable career on stage. Best known for his hilarious portrayal of George Costanza on NBC’s “Seinfeld”, Alexander has earned seven Emmys, four Golden Globe nominations, two American Television Awards, two Screen Actors Guild Awards, a Drama Best ?? Award, an Outer Critic Circle Award, and two American Comedy Awards. In addition, he was voted by TV Guide readers as one of the greatest television characters of all time. However, did you know Jason Alexander started as a song and dance man on Broadway. Alexander’s Broadway debut in “Merrily We Roll Along” lead him to star in five Broadway shows, garnering a host of accolades, including a Tony Award and the Julie Harris Award for Lifetime Achievement. A man of many talents, Jason Alexander is a noted entertainer, director, producer, teacher, and author, as well as an award-winning magician, notorious poker player and respected political and social advocate. He made his Broadway debut in the Hal Prince/Stephen Sondheim musical “Merrily We Roll Along” and his Tony Award winning performance in Jerome Robbin’s “Broadway,” for which he won the Tony Award for Best Musical Actor. He has played Off-Broadway and around the country, most notably starring with Martin Short in the Los Angeles production of Mel Brooks’ “The Producers.” He is also a distinguished television director, overseeing episodes of Seinfeld, Til Death, Everybody Hates Chris, Mike and Molly, Criminal Minds, and Franklin and Bash. And, he won the American Country Music Award for his direction of Brad Paisley’s video “Online.” He is a coveted director of theater in Los Angeles and had served five years as the Artistic Director of the Reprise Theatre Company. Most recently, Jason Alexander has created a Symphony Show and has opened The Boston Pops Season to rave reviews. He has continued to perform symphony dates and has been in concert with The Baltimore Symphony, St. Louis Symphony, The National Symphony, Houston Symphony, and the Atlanta Symphony. This is Alexander’s first symphonic appearance at the McCallum Theatre and his first appearance in the Palm Springs area. He will be performing in concert with the full Desert Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Music Director Gary Berkson. Some of the musical selections he will perform include a Billy Joel medley featuring Ring Them Bells and Anytime, as well as music from Broadway’s Music Man, Pippin, and Merrily We Roll Along.
